COVID-19 – Soccer activities remain suspended through April 12
March 25, 2020

Dear members,

Last week, we announced a collaborative decision with AYSO, SAY and USSSA to immediately suspend all soccer activities through April 12. That suspension remains in place, and we will continue to communicate with you weekly throughout this process.

There will be a subsequent Member Update before April 12 addressing the possibility of returning to play or extending this cessation. We will rely on expert public health advice from organizations like the CDC, NIH and WHO in making this decision.

For our adult programming, please note the U.S. Adult Soccer Association (USASA) announced this past Monday that it is suspending all activities until at least April 30. Because US Club Soccer's adult members are registered with the U.S. Soccer Federation through USASA, this suspension applies to them, as well.

In the meantime, we invite you to take advantage of various digital and social media resources. We've hosted two Facebook Live sessions – with Positive Coaching Alliance on "Dealing with Disappointment" and with SportSessionPlanner on "Getting Organized in the Downtime" – and there are several more scheduled over the next few weeks. Additionally, here's a complimentary 4-week college recruiting plan for players, courtesy of ScoutingZone.

Please continue to do your part in flattening the curve by practicing social distancing and remaining vigilant in hygiene habits. You're welcome to visit usclubsoccer.org/coronavirus, which includes an FAQ section, as well as links to applicable information from the aforementioned health organizations.

Player Health & Safety will always be our first and foremost responsibility. Thank you for your attentiveness in this matter.

Welcome to the Sacramento Valley Women's Soccer League (SVWSL). Some of this information may not pertain to you, but it may help me help you to find a team. Teams are always looking for players and can add players throughout the season.

The SVWSL has four divisions with Division 1 being the most competitive, Division 2 not as competitive, Division 3, the least competitive open division, and Division 4 is over-30s.

We presently have about 20 teams. Our fall season begins the first Sunday after Labor Day, and continues to just before Thanksgiving. The first weekend in December we hold a small end-of-the season indoor tournament. Our outdoor season resumes after the Christmas holidays and finishes in May with our annual fundraiser Valley Cup.

We play primarily at Cherry Island on Sunday mornings at either 9 am, 11 am or a 1 pm game. We also play away games at Gibson Ranch near Cherry Island, at Orangevale, Elk Grove and on Carmichael fields as well, when Cherry Island is not available. Cherry Island is located in the north Sacramento area at 28th St. and U St.

Each player must have a player's pass. The player pass is renewed annually and is good from August 1 to July 31. Cost is $25 per player. Team fees are determined by the team managers each season. Team fees pay for fields and referees.

Most teams do not practice nor do they have tryouts.

League rules state that all team members must have matching uniforms with numbers, but it is up to the team to decide what that uniform will be and its cost.

Now that you know all about us, I need to know something about you. Are you looking for a competitive team, a somewhat competitive team, a recreational team, or an over-30 team? What position or positions do you play?

Once you supply me with your information, I will contact team managers on your behalf. If they have an opening on their team, they will contact you. If you do not hear from a team manager within one week, please let me know, and I will try again.
